MacSeain, Todd


One of the most popular citizens of Cornafean, Thomas 'Tom' MacSeain, passed away on October 21st, 2016 at the age of 85. A retired publican, Tom came from a family of ten, who were embedded deeply in local GAA affairs. His grandfather, JP, founded Cornafean GAA Club and his father, Pol, held numerous prestigious positions at club and county level. As club secretary, Tom was one of the driving forces behind the development of Páirc Naomh Fionnán in the 1960s, having won a senior championship medal with Cornafean in 1956. Nicknamed Tom Langan due to his ability to score goals, Tom had a great love of both football and hurling and attended many All-Ireland finals in Croke Park. President of the club at the time of his death, Tom MacSeain set up a juvenile hurling team in Cornafean in the 'sixties, which won a number of U14 and U16 titles. His contribution to Cornafean GAA and the area in general was immeasurable and invaluable.
