A native of Marahill, Ballinagh, the late Brendan Brady was an outstanding gaelic footballer in his youth. He won a MacRory Cup medal with St Patrick's College in 1951 and starred on the Cavan minor team the following year, delivering a Man of the Match performance from centre half back against Galway in the 1952 All-Ireland MFC final at Croke Park.
