Carlow's Tailteann Cup hopes have been handed a boost with the return of Darragh Foley to the fold.

Foley, who is the county's all-time leading scorer, has returned just five months after bringing the curtain down on a stellar 15-year inter-county career. He told the Carlow Nationalist this week that he was 'slipping back in'.

It's believed the appointment of Joe Murphy as interim manager was a factor in the Kilbride clubman's decision to come out of retirement. Murphy replaced Shane Curran in the hotseat on the eve of the Barrowsiders' Leinster SFC first round loss to Meath earlier this month.
