Replying To breffnibluewhite:  "At least new chairman has already come up with new ideas to save money and reinvest it in the upgrading of Breffni park so that it can cater for the average crowd that attends matches in there ie less than 2000. I hear they are restricting the amount of free match programs issued to voluntary workers like the civil defence. Fair play to him this should save thousands of euros."
Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story. The only game in Breffni since the new chairman was elected was the All Ireland Semi Final and the programs for that would have nothing to do with Cavan Co Board

So with 100 hours left to the throw in against Monaghan can anyone hazard a go at naming the time that will take the field against Monaghan and hope to get it 75% right?

Not the start that was needed…. Monaghan were the better team no doubt about that… Meath now turns into a vital game… looser of that game will face a battle to survive relegation..!

Decent performance. More positives than negatives. Positives being the new lads, McEvoy in particular. Molloy with a good debut. McVeety looked fully fit and had a brilliant game. Some of the older lads looked very heavy legged, let's hope it's the time of year rather than age

Monaghan love the league and will likely challenge for promotion.

The new rules are a farce, bar the kick out one (which should have been introduced years ago). The most enjoyable part of the game was mid way through the second half when Beggan was forced long and there were a couple of scraps for possession and the crowd got involved.

But for a derby game this was timid stuff, more like an u12 match. Overly cleansed, too loose, almost no physicality or bit of needle. Watching Armagh Galway here, the game is turning into basketball on a football field

100% agree on the rules. The stated aim was to make the 'product' enjoyable to watch, which was interpreted as high scoring it seems. While something had to happen to break the stalemate in the game, the mistake was a total misdiagnosis of the reason for over-and-back possession football.
We need a CONTEST FOR POSSESSION in the game. What we have now will turn into a nice run out for the suburban moms and dads to watch while knowing FIachra and Sennan won't get too roughed up. Or dirty even.

Put it this way, Monaghan went to Breffni last night with half a new team and a lot of big names gone or missing, we were apprehensive no doubt. They racked up 2-22. As Monaghan supporters we should be buzzing today, instead it's all a bit, well, nice. Would rather have won 15-11 in a proper contest than what we saw last night.
Cavan will be fine in Div2 by the way, whenever they get a few things sorted they will have much too much for Louth, Down, Meath and Westmeath.

Great crowd in Breffni Saturday night and a very high scoring game, new rules will take a bit of getting use to, but one positive I took from watching all the games overs the weekend was teams willing to attack (bearing in mind, the semi-final of the McRory Cup on Sunday) finished 5 points to 1 goal to Maghera, so I can see why things needed to change.

Unfortunately, Cavan came out the wrong side of the scoreline but they'll learn from it and move on, the won a lot of kickouts on the second half but some wasteful kicking and a bit off ill-discipline from a few players let them down. Crowe, Molloy and McEvoy were very bright and great to see some new faces on the team. Conor Madden needs to start too, James Smith isnt a full forward, play him midfield and get a good 40/50 minutes out of him. The other thing is the game now requires high fitness levels which means utilisng the bench a bit more, I think management got the substitutions wrong and left some of the older players on the pitch too long.

Onwards and upwards but I think the 2 point rule will be great for the game and will swing a few games in the future.

Hopefully a few more entertaining games in the future.
