I wouldn't get over carried away with Cavan's chances this weekend.. Donegal will be sore after loosing at home to Tyrone and even though they could loose again and qualify such as the stupidly of these group matches I'm certain they will go all guns blazing not to risk all on the last game… We were very good v Mayo but they were so off it for whatever reason it's kinda difficult to know where we are .. We have a terrible habit of following up an good performance with an absolute stinker especially when playing at home… Hopefully we turn in a similar performance as we did b Mayo but even that might not be enough.. We are in a great position to qualify as it's difficult to see Mayo winning any game… hopefully

Not a great day at the office lads. Another bite at the cherry beckons. But it really depends on how galligan can dust that off. The expectations will be low so no better time to take that tyrone scalp.

Cavan need Donegal to beat Mayo next time out and that result regardless of our result v Tyrone would mean Cavan through to knockout stages

We competed at their level for the first 30mins and then the gap in mental strength became apparent. Fair enough, during the crucial period, 10 mins before half time and ten mins into the second, Murphy was the difference in the sides. What a fantastic player. His two pointers and clinical runs caused havoc and created space for others, especially for their first, and most important goal, before the break. You could see that we had broken mentally, on and off the pitch. Our composure was gone in no small part due to Mc Guinness's antics on the line.

To beat Tyrone, we would have to match them mentally for the whole game, otherwise we will withdraw into our fragile comfort zone during the game and accept defeat. Mental strength comes from belief and confidence. We have good players, some very good players, but we don't have enough belief or confidence against Div 1 teams. We won't always get a chance to rattle a below par team like we found Mayo in Castelbar. They proved their resilience yesterday in Omagh. Does anyone think we could have beaten Mayo yesterday?

The issue for me is that we have to abandon this zonal marking on kickouts. This is exactly what happened against Tyrone. Donegal cleaned us out at midfield for practically the whole of the second half. Several times we had one Cavan player jumping with 2 or 3 Donegal players. It was very easy for them to pickup the broken ball because our lads were in another zone and we couldn't get help. In turn it was easy for them to run up such a big score with such an amount of possession.

Against Mayo we done it differently seemingly working in pods of 2 or 3 around midfield and broke the ball.

There were other issues and particularly loosing possession just after the hooter and giving away the goal. The 3 wides after half time too but Donegal did mark the arc to stop the 2 pointers. I'm also not sure how accurate our kickouts were with the wind in thee second half. They seemed to be miscued a few times and players not expecting the ball.

We are still in it and this was always going to be the case in the group of death 2 (group of death for us but not for everyone else).

Very disappointing second half after a great first half. The killer been the 1-1 at the end of 1st half. The tension that McGuinness caused on the sideline transported to the crowd, and players. This was clearly diliberate. Amazing Sunday Game didn't highlight. The Ref also gave several soft frees at this stage. Murphy dominated and Donegal suddenly had a 5 point half time lead. Cavan sadly made so many mistakes in the second half. A few wides at the start of 2nd half knocked more pressure on Cavan, and mistakes followed. Subs made mistakes, and little impact. Donegal were in control. The pace difference between both teams was huge. Players kept working, but it was a too streched and a big gap.

The 2 week gap is massive. The players had worked so hard through out, and the midfield needs sorting. Donegal had 2/3 players against Cavan's one everytime in second half. Tyrone are Tyrone. The team Cavan fear the most. Be that team that finally put the nail in to Tyrone. Remember the many defeats, league defeats, last summer, jesus this summer. The one team that always haunts our games. The players must believe and work tirelessly to beat them. The challenge is to beat Tyrone. Forget about head to heads, and Mayo/Donegal. Brian Kennedy missed Tyrone/Mayo on Saturday, he is so key for them at midfield. Get behind the Breffini.

I was totally correct in my fears for Cavan going into this game… We just can never seem to put back to back good performances together.. Our home record in recent times is nothing short of shocking.. a 1-13 return is really a first half score under these new rules yet we could only manage that over 75/80 minutes play.. It's difficult to see us getting anything out of the Tyrone game but we may still qualify if Donegal beat Mayo but I wouldn't be surprised if a draw was conjured up in that one…

A quote from the teams rankings were cavan is ranked 14th. Now its the time this Cavan team to make there mark, back to bruster park, were alot of these guys had great success at U21 level.
It is time for this team to stand up and be counted and earn there respect.

The fear is that Cavan will get hammered again v Tyrone. That fear is always there with Cavan nowadays. If only we could lose by a few points, that would be massive.
