The problem is that county minor managers only pick players from these development squads and the days of going to see players playing for their clubs seems long gone… lots of talent slip through the net because of this… Players in these development squads also get comfortable and complacent as they know they have one arm already in a county jersey.. It's simply not working for Cavan football that's for sure if what's taking the field at minor and U 20/21 for the last number of years is anything to go by..! That's exactly the problem at all underage levels in Cavan Football, and not just managers, you've got selectors bringing in players from their own clubs too (some selectors picking sons or nephews too), players that are not good enough and are taking up places that other players should be taking up on merit.
