Agh Blue and White its odious how you express your generosity with money. Ough Perhaps you got a legacy from America . But the great Mrs T says that its great how someone unknown to us would offer such a gesture,
But back to our County manager Galligan's panel, if you look at it these payer would have the following qualties,
No1 Generally conform to a set type of Club rules ( Cavan Gaels players do) during champinship
No 2 Most would be used playing at a high tempo ( Cavan gaels players do ) in Championship games.
No3 All senior club players know how to raise agame to County Standard
No 4 W A G S are not generally influential in dictating when, where a player trains or goes with teh County team.
No5 The big stage fright generally will not exist

These are a few reasons I am sure other good reasons may exist

I saw a picture of a 1967 Ulster Champions. This team was good enough to win an All Ireland Final. Alas, it never happened and we are still waiting since 1952 to have Sam Maguire back in Cavan. Imagine that some of us will die never having seen Cavan win Sam! Doesn`t bear thinking about.

I attended the all Ireland semifinal of 1967, between Cork and Cavan, and indeed Cavan were robbed. Score, as I remember was 2-7 to 0-12 and Cork were helped by some controversial refereeing decisions. Cork subsequently lost the final to an average enough Meath team by 1-9 to 0-9 after Billy Morgan made a goalkeeping error. I think Cavan would have beaten Meath and players like Charlie Gallagher, Ray Carolan and Gabriel Kelly would have got a deserved all Ireland medal.

Raymond Galligan inherited a great team all be not many from West Cavan had made the big break through.
So that leave Ramond with little option but to go to the big teams to get his panel
Big Clubs or big teams generally install a sense of discipline in young players
so I say Raymond if you have two players same standard one from a small club one from a big club.... yes go for the big club man/player

It is evedent that you dont read Tomsmiths intelligent posts as you would know that the Tomsmith and indeed the great Mrs T always has respect for the small man or should I say the small country Club with its Farmers sheep dealers, Cow men, refuge workers, Turf cutters ect that strives to be as big as a Town Club .
In this case the Phycology is that all people are equal and that some even from small clubs can be great leaders.
I say Raymond s choice was excellent and he choose a great leader for this Cavan team

Tomsmith here on a Sad Monday for Cavan Football

Having watched the game against Armagh I am of the opinion that , we areaway off the pace in relation to ULster Footbal,
While Donegal drew with Armagh and we could have beaten Donegal we were taught a lesson yesterday .
What is the answer to our lack of effort, just being pushed aside, no killer instink ough I dont know,
I feel that Cavan must have better players, but where are these player, Ollie Leddy, Texas Brady, my own find David Givney, Faulkner ect.
These were men that stood up when men were needed .
What is your answer or will we remain silent and let us get disgraced

Yes the two Ollies are around 70 but I was giving an example of the type of men that Cavan had in the past.
I do know that Raymond Galligan had a load of injuries.
What I would suggest ( And as a senior Poster ) I take making suggestion very serious.
That a development or what used to be called Senior panel be formed
That selection to this development panel be from the bigger Clubs unless a played shows great form
That this development panel be placed on a strength and condition course without delay.
THat prior to Training each player undergo a Breath Test
That Party men be excluded from this panel..

I am sure many more good suggestions are out there but Tomsmith is away out in frfont with his suggestion

You're talking to yourself, Tom. No other engagement with your 'other handle' and here you are jumping in. There's lots of good club football on in Monaghan. Maybe 'yourselves' should concentrate on that for a while.

One would sometimes wonder why o why do a good friend not intercede with some posters prior to hitting the send button on Hoganstand when a post contains criticism of a senior Poster like Tomsmith.
Tomsmith has been to the forefront of all things that are positive about Cavan football.
Indeed if any of you would sit at the Top corner of the Imperial and listen to a Gaa discussion which sometimes the great Mrs T chairs youse would learn a lot about Cavan football.
Indeed most of these posts by the , experienced , exuberant, intelligent, informative Tomsmith are exciting and above all contain 100% veracity..

I can well imagine how the Galway and Ardmagh players fell before the Allireland.
I just wonder did any team go trough the same heartache as we did in 1947 when we had to travel to Newyork and managed to beat a fancied Kerry team out the gate in the All ireland final

AS anyone that knows Tomsmith he is a man of temperance supported by the great Mrs T his Aide-de-camp who would spot any excess behaviour and not alone would Tomsmith be chided but MaryAnn behind the Bar would also suffer the wrath of the great Mrs T for supplying excess Beer, wines or Spirits..
But back to my advice to Raymond Gallagian, it was only my thoughts supported by the great Mrs T which I expressed

I understand that some Clubs are encouraging substance Testing of its players now before games.
Agh I would have heard the years ago Country Clubs would be going round Pubs gathering up fellows to play after dinner on a Sunday and the stoor of Drink of them would tumble a Horse .
And some of them would play well for the first 10 or fifteen minutes.
Ough with the good old days

Tom, with due respect, your musings are becoming as outlandish as some of the stuff coming from the Trump camp. A General Election is on the horizon - you could kill the winter drawing up campaign strategies…..
