Was at the U17 Division 2 final in Drumlane yesterday mainly due to my own clubs game called off and been down that neck of the wood and boy was I glad. Firstly Drumlane have a great set up and that cup of tea at half time was badly needed as the cold was almost unbearable. But have to say the game did not disappoint as always when I have seen Dernacreeve play they are a team built on comebacks , they looked dead and buried at one stage but I knew there was something in them and alas they keep the best till last. I have seen these underage teams for the past possibly 8 years when my own lad was playing and the style of play , the coaching is next to none. I am fortunate to see young Caoimhin Mc Govern play numerous times over the past year mainly for County what a player but please please look after him and don't let him get burnt out. I could pick another 3-4 players of that team who were excellent . The number 7 I thought while under pressue at times excelled in the second half and what about the interception by 4 I think it was as the game was in the boiling pot. Ballyhaise will feel they left this one behind them cruising at one stage but you can never give up against these boys a good lesson we got about 3 years ago but some great fielding around the middle. But the main reason I wanted to post here bar to say how much as a neutral enjoyed the game. The support for both teams was excellent , football was honest and hard working . I was blessed to have met a old school friend whom I was chatting so was there for the presentation. And to say a speech moved me to tears is an understatement, And this is when you realise how important the GAA is to young men, Caoimhin you done MIchael proud RIP. Well done to both teams ... and stay strong and be there for each other the best lesson anyone could take away from the game.

I'm late to this, but well put!!! i heard from others who were at it and it was a fantastic game. its nice hearing something positive regarding cavan football. Didn't hear much from the game at the weekend but by all accounts there's a few promising lads coming on aswell.
Poor championship match v a poor Fermanagh but a good win, probably a case of damded if you do, damnded if you don;t. Derry match will tell us what the minors of 18 are made of because that Fermanagh match was no guide.
Great result for Cavan but a very poor match, scoreline not a reflection of the match at all, the usual over and across the pitch from both sides despite Cavan having some very fast talented forwards.
