History was made at Kingspan Breffni Park on Sunday when East Cavan Gaels were crowned Cavan SHC winners for the first time following an 0-15 to 1-9 victory over four-in-a-row chasing Cootehill Celtic.
The new champions made light of the poor conditions and the concession of an early Diarmaid Carney goal to lead by 0-9 to 1-4 at the break thanks to some fine scores from Liam O'Brien and captain Rory Farrell.
Waterford native O'Brien brought his tally to 0-9 before two late Cootehill points from Lonan McKenna left the Gaels hanging on at the finish.
Meanwhile, Tipperary secured back-to-back New York SHC titles with a comfortable 2-27 to 1-13 victory over Westmeath at Gaelic Park on Sunday night.
